Eddie Deacon (Antonio Banderas) ist Kriegsveteran und leidet an einer posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung. Trotzdem braucht er dringend einen Job und so nimmt er die Stelle als Security Guard in einer Mall an. Doch es ist der falsche Ort zur falschen Zeit. Ein Killerkommando soll die 11-jährige Jamie (Katherine de la Rocha) töten, damit sie nicht als Kronzeugin gegen deren soziopathischen Anführer (Sir Ben Kingsley) aussagen kann. Eddie riskiert sein Leben, um das Mädchen auf ihrer Flucht vor ihren Verfolgern zu schützen.
