Beavers are the second largest rodents in the world. They are real landscape architects: they build forts and dreams, dam streams, and cut down trees. In the process, they create new habitat for plants and animals. The typical characteristic of the Beaver is its flattened, hairless tail. Its thick fur is also particularly striking: the skin on its front holds 23,000 hairs per square cm, while its back holds some 12,000 hairs per square cm. On a human head grows only 300 hairs per square cm. This thick brown fur keeps the Beaver warm and dry for hours in the water. Their valuable fur meant that Beavers were once ruthlessly hunted, almost to extinction Beavers need water – they live on and in slow-flowing and standing waters of at least 1.5 m Depth. Beavers are loyal companions– they live together with their partner for a Lifetime.
