Final Portrait

During a trip to Paris in 1964, young writer James Lord is asked if he would sit for a portrait model. Flattered and fascinated, he says, because it is none less than Alberto Giacometti. But Lord has no idea what he got into there. Soon, the young American experiences the fascinatingly intense and in some places completely chaotic creative process of the world-famous artist almost on his own body.
The picture does not want to be finished, and days become weeks. Dates are postponed because the master is not in the mood or prefers to sit with red wine in the bistro than pursue his art. Because he paints over entire facial features again or even doubts his work. Or first conflicts between wife and lover have to be resolved.
