Für viele ist er Gott, für die anderen eine Ausgeburt des Teufels: Jim Morrison, der Frontmann der Ausnahmeband "The Doors". Sein Leben war extrem und selbstzerstörerisch. Widerstand gegen die Staatsgewalt, Skandale, Wut, Leidenschaft bis hin zum Untergang im Sex-, Alkohol- und Drogenrausch.
Die beiden Studenten Jim Morrison und Ray Manzarek gründen am Strand von Venice 'The Doors'. Nach einigen skandalumwitterten Auftritten gelingt es der Rockband im "Summer of love" der Durchbruch. Doch Jim Morrison lebt ziemlich exzessiv: harte Drogen, Unmengen an Alkohol und immer wieder neue Groupies. Unter diesem ausschweifenden Leben leidet mit der Zeit auch die Musik der Doors. Nach einem Konzert in Florida 1969 verlässt Morrison die Band. Er ist völlig ausgebrannt und will in Paris "auf den Spuren Baudelaires wandeln". Im Juli 1971 findet man Jim Morrison in seinem Hotel tot auf. Er wurde nur 27 Jahre alt.
