DESCRIPTION

Hanoverian guitarist Lothar Müller plays his instrument with the expression of the singer. Müller's music plays with country and rock, with sounds and samples, grooves and feeling, boundaries are flowing or disappearing. He enters new ground with his compositions and his playing style. müller speaks a musical language that is understood everywhere. müller - a quartet with a centre: the guitar Lothar Müller. The Hanoverian plays his instrument with the expression of a singer singing the guitar, speaking, telling. Is that jazz? müller attracts jazz many beautiful things: rock grooves, sampling, soundscapes, wah-wah, slide, feedback, everything delicately combined with each other. Simple, beautiful melodies are at the foreground; clear structures, intense, often melancholic atmospheres, and the warm, singing tone of the guitar characterize Lothar Müller's compositions. Characterized by the extraordinary ideas and inventiveness of the Beatles, Lothar Müller found his way through Santana, Hendrix and Clapton to Abercrombie, Scofield and Frisell, because in instrumental jazz attracted more expression, more space and time. Müller always wanted to get away from the classic jazz trio sound, from the "I-play-now-jazz feeling", as he says. Boundaries are fluent or lifted; the power, the power of music makes everything possible. Sound journeys are world travel. Excursions to "No Man's Land" and the "Children's Country" are naturally next to edits of pieces Luiz Bonfas or Björks. The language of müller is universal, the guitar vocals. Lothar Müller describes himself as self-taught, the "Beatles complete" book and a stereo system helped with self-study. At first he was a singer in bands, he came to play solo "because I was the only one in the band who found matching tones - and if it was only two." In the nineties he took lessons with John Abercrombie and Jim Hall. In 1990 he won the International Jazz Prize Trier and since 1991 several times (last 2002) the jazz podium of Lower Saxony. He played with Cunnie Williams on his European tour, undertook concert tours to Russia (2001) and China (2002) with the Müller Trio and worked as a theatre musician in the Schauspielhaus Hannover as well as with the Berlin Ensemble.
