When she arrives in a room, the former presenter and columnist on MCM, MTV and Canal+, now radio host on TSFJAZZ and Jazz FM, has the ability to change the atmosphere, to print her smile, her charisma and her energy. American in her attitude, London in her curiosity for the multicultural underground, French for her chic and offbeat side, China Moses is a multi-faceted artist. Daughter of famous jazz icon Dee Dee Bridgewater and activist, African American theatre and film man Gilbert Moses, China was born in Los Angeles and raised in France. She has that voice that carries and an innate talent for breaking barriers. She has worked with Chilly Gonzales, DJ Cam, DJ Mehdi, collaborated with Diam's, declared her flame to Dinah Washington ("This One's For Dinah", her producer debut in 2009), played a Disney princess, and was most recently raised to the rank of Knight of the National Order of Merit! More than a singer, she is an artist and an entertainer. Listening to "it's complicated." means measuring how much China Moses has traveled. A path to emancipation as a woman and independent artist/producer that we guess fraught with pitfalls. From the first to the last measure, her seventh album is the fruit of her sweat, her experience and her know-how, the affirmation of an insatiable and enthusiastic singer and composer. China has also made the radical choice for the release of this new album, to make it available only in physical format — vinyl, CD and even cassette — refusing to give in to the dominant logic of streaming. By limiting the distribution to tangible formats, she invites her audience to a more committed gesture: to really own the object, feel the grain of the vinyl, to touch the booklet, to find this authenticity.
