Jacques Coursil, trumpeter and star composer of the New York Free Jazz scene of the 1960s, interrupted his career for more than 40 years to devote himself to the philosophy of mathematics and Creole literature.

He returned to the musical scene in 2007, with the album Clameurs that combines years of underground musical work with his pronounced taste for the works of great authors on négritude.
