Ariane Mnouchkine directs this French drama based on the life of the 17th century playwright Jean-Baptiste Poquelin, better known by his professional moniker Molière. Philippe Caubère stars in the title role as the story follows the writer's life and career through childhood to his time as a law student at university, his work with the Illustre theatre company and finally on to his colourful life as Molière and his work that attracted fans from all walks of life, including royalty.
