Gwo Ka nennt sich nicht nur die Musik aus Gouadeloupe es kennzeichnet auch eine besondere Art von Tanz, Spielen, Vergnügen ja eine ganze Geisteshaltung. Aus den verschiedensten Ländern Afrikas verschleppte Sklaven hatten einst als einzige gemeinsame Sprache die Musik und so entstand Gwo Ka. Marie-Line Dahomay gründete die Band Kalindi Ka bereits 1997 und ist die einzige Frau an der Spitze einer Gwo Ka-Band.
