Born in Tunisia in 1945 Claude Challe is a DJ and club owner of the Buddha Bar.A fan of all things occidental, the young Challe travelled to India, Nepal and Indonesia, on his return he was introduced to the
music of Andreas Vollenweider, an early exponent of world and new age music and Ennio Morricone, famous for his spaghetti western themes.Inspired by the sights and sounds, he incorporated them into the
clubs that he would subsequently run.Foremost amongst those is the Buddha Bar in Paris.In 1996 Challe set up the record label Chall'OMusic to provide a platform for compilations of the sort of laid back
east/west fusion music that he was playing at the club.In 1999 he produced the first of the "Buddha Bar" compilations, subsequent releases have had different producers but the mixture of lounge and chill-out has
remained.Acts that have appeared on the compilations include Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Fat Freddy's Drop, Faithless and The Gotan Project."Select 2010" is the latest release in which Claude Challe and his brother
Jean-Marc share their favourite tracks of the year.This time again "Select 2010" is an extremely juicy cocktail of surprising and sophisticated flavours: an explosive festival of delicious rarities for your ears.
