In devoting themselves mainly to the singers among the ladies of jazz, the genre's historians too often neglected to evaluate the importance of women who were instrumentalists. It's necessary to take a longer look at the work of these pioneering women who paved the way for the wonderful musicians of today. Along the lines of the set dedicated to Mary Lou Williams, Jean-Paul Ricard and Jean Buzelin have highlighted here the brilliant lady jazz-players, in a complete anthology full of rare treasures.
