The organ had an important place in the life of Jean-Philippe Rameau. His father was an organist for 42 years in various churches in Dijon and when Rameau returned from Paris he took over his father's position at Notre-Dame de Dijon. Oddly, Rameau never composed any music for organ but transcriptions of music from his operas were frequently performed at the Concerts Spiritual by his friend Claude Balbastre. Inspired by this history, organist Jean-Paul Lecot presents a program of transcriptions from Zoroaster, The Princess of Navarre, Hippolyte et Aricie and more.
