The charm of the restored sound of these old 7-inches is only matched by the ardor of the interpretations. Like no music genre ever before, boogaloo brought together African Americans and Latinos, who already attended the same parties, but danced to different tunes. Indeed, boogaloo overtook the West Indies with amplified keyboards and electrified guitars, and this new wave knocked out hierarchy and habits.
