'Europa Paris', a tribute to the French capital, recorded and arranged by the ORCHESTRE NATIONAL DE JAZZ under the direction of OLIVIER BENOIT, appears on the own label ONJAZZ as a double CD. Already in 1986, on an initiative of the then French Minister of Culture Jack Lang and the musicologist Maurice Fleuret, the now world-famous Orchestre National de Jazz was founded in Paris and supported with financial support from the state. The ensemble consists of an ever-changing musical cast. The position of musical director is also reassigned at regular intervals, among them were e.g. ANTOINE HERVÉ (1987-1989) and DANIEL YVINEC (2009-2013), until the orchestre was finally taken over by OLIVIER BENOIT in 2013, which itself between 2001 and 2003. 'Europe Paris' is classic big band jazz that is always peppered with modern parts and leaves room for improvisation. The 'Europe' program reflects European cities and is a kind of kaleidoscope of the European music landscape. 'Europe Paris' is something special, Paris is the home of many participating musicians as well as the head Benoit. Paris as a modern big city and as a cradle for a wide range of influences from all over the world - different cultures and traditions meet here and are reflected in the musical, artistic and architectural image of the city. A great album that is not only recommended to all Francophilic listeners
