The mallard duck owes its name to the green colour of the plumage of the males around its head during the breeding period. You should know that outside this period, its plumage does not have this particular green tint, it indeed sports a beige coat similar to that of new-borns. Measuring up to 68 cm and 1.2 kg, it is today the best known of the ducks family.
