The dromedary belongs to the camelid species. Unlike its cousin the camel which has 2 bumps, the dromedary has only one. This domestic mammal is found in North Africa, Middle East and Near East. Perfectly suited to desert areas, the dromedary can withstand extreme heat and lack of water. He can by drawing from his reserves not drink for almost a week. Its bump, which contains fat reserves also serves to regulate its temperature. Used by men for the transport of goods, the dromedary also provides a very rich milk, meat and its fleece is also used to make blankets.
