"De eerste Range Rover werd officieel gepresenteerd op 17 juni 1970. Hij werd geproduceerd van juli 1970 tot februari 1996 en daarbij technisch altijd verder ontwikkeld. Door zijn permanente vierwielaandrijving, de schroefvering en de 3,5 l V8-motor is de terreinwagenmarkt revolutionair. Hij werd aanvankelijk ontworpen als een puur driedeurs voertuig. De Range Rover werd al in de jaren '70 beschouwd als voorbeeld voor een aantal andere luxe terreinwagens."
