PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Sukhoi Su-27 (known by its NATO message name: Flanker) was developed in the 1970s for the PVO Strany, the Soviet air defense forces. As an all-weather interceptor, it is a highly developed aircraft of the latest generation. The prototype 1021 first flew in 1977, followed by a small number of pre-production aircraft. Construction continued simultaneously with the MiG-29 Fulcrum, a similar but smaller fighter aircraft. The operational version, the Su-27 (Flanker B), entered service in 1986.
