The return to the pure delta wing wing adopted for the earlier and highly successful Mirage III/V series made the Mirage 2000 nearly unique among today's generations of warplanes with cutting-edge technology. Dassault-Breguet had done a lot of development work to improve the efficiency of such aircraft. With the Mirage 2000, this was supported by the use of computer-controlled controls and fly-by-wire technology, which allowed complete control of all unstable flight characteristics across the entire power range.
