Borodin: The Three Symphonies As a full-time professor of organic chemistry, Alexander Borodin was limited to composing music in his (scarce) spare time. His Symphony No.1 took five years to complete, and Symphony No.2 took seven. Borodin's unfinished Symphony No.3 was completed and orchestrated posthumously by Alexander Glazunov. This trilogy of historical performances features Paul Kletzki and the Philharmonia Orchestra (1954), Gennady Rozhdestvensky and the Moscow Radio Symphony (1966) and Yevgeny Svetlanov and the USSR State Symphony (1983).
