DESCRIPTION
The sound of the human voice many musicians will tell you is the most beautiful and perfect instrument in the world. Take the old group harmony sounds, the kind that made rock n' roll king in the 1950s, record them with the most fantastic harmony groups of our time, but in a new way - without instrumental background. That's the sound of Acappella. Put it together with 20 great tunes; some standards, some new, and you've got what might be the greatest rock n' roll album ever. "I Dig Acappella" Volume Two is the second in a great series of favorite group sounds recorded without the use of instrumentation. The groups included on this compilation include The Five Sharks, whose distinctive high harmony sound earned them many loyal fans in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia areas. All members were from Fordham Road in the Bronx, NY. Personnel consisted of Mark Dinep lead vocals, Eddie Schwartz first tenor, Hank Levy second tenor, Larry Rosenzweig baritone, and Steve Horn bass vocal. The Splendids hailed from Staten Island, New York. Members included John Vorrasi lead vocals, Richard Creighton second tenor, Eddy Fieramosca false tenor, Walter Doyle first tenor, and Thomas Steinway bass vocal. They are noted for their strong vocal blend and mellow harmony. The Rue-Teens were from Tremont Avenue in the Bronx, NY. The group consisted of Jimmy Appollo lead vocal, Joe "Pepe" Contaldi baritone, Joe Foti second tenor, and Frankie Bujosa first tenor. They are noted for their great lead and strong background. The Five Fashions, also known as the Group Called Us, hailed from Stamford, Connecticut. Tremendous harmony with the mellow touch has been their trademark. They performed throughout Connecticut and parts of New York and New Jersey. They are respectively: Bruce Burdock, Robert Wasters, Frank Erico, Anthony Motylinsk, Richard Melesk and Richard Bour. The The Meadowbrooks hailed from Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. Al, Tony, Wayne, Jesse and Bob combined for some truly excellent acappella. Their great sense of humor and easy going attitude made them appealing to the eye and ear at any time. The edition of the 4-Tels on this compilation shows a drastic alteration of personnel from their previous line-up. Uncle Sam won the services of two former members, leaving only Ernie Mastria and Joe Greenburg from the original four. With the help of Stan Krause and the "small world" we live in, Tony DeCapua and Mike Mastriola were recruited into the ranks. To designate a specific part to any man would be a lie as they alternated positions with every song. They relished the challenge of difficult material and strived for originality in their arrangements. Originally released well over 50 years ago, this second volume of "I Dig Acappella" has been newly remastered for this exclusive release. This product is an authorized manufactured on demand CD-R.
