DESCRIPTION
'Is Maith an Scéalaí an Aimsir' is a centuries-old proverb from Gaelic, which tells the best stories. A wisdom that is also fully true in the case of Runrig: for more than 45 years, the Scottish cult band has thrilled countless generations of listeners around the globe with its Celtic Rock anthems that immediately go to heart and took on a fascinating journey into its very own realm. After a good four and a half exciting decades, the circle is now closing for one of Scotland's best-known and most successful formations: next summer, the group around the two brothers Rory and Calum Macdonald will now embarks on their final farewell tour. As a thank you for their loyal fans, Runrig are releasing an extensive retrospective of unreleased live tracks, unheard demo recordings, rare B-sides, video clips and their brand new single Somewhere! After a total of 14 studio albums (the last two of which, with a 6th place in the German charts, each represent the highest chart long players in the runrig history), 7 live albums, 28 singles, 8 DVDs and countless Best Of collections, one era is now coming to an end for Runrig: Last year, the Band announced their The Final Mile farewell tour, where Rory and Calum Macdonald, lead singer Bruce Guthro, guitarist Malcolm Jones, drummer Iain Bayne and keyboard player Brian Hurren will bow to their audience for the last time. As a special farewell gift, the Scots will release a career-spanning exhibition with rarities as a retrospective box set and double CD of over 120 titles with mostly unreleased material soon on 1 June! With a few exceptions already released (a few tracks were already featured on the limited Access All Areas series years ago exclusively for the Runrig fan club), Rarities includes everything a real fan heart desires: from atmospheric live versions of songs like Saints Of The Soil, Flower Of The West, Hearts Of Olden Glory, Road And The River, Edge Of The World or Rise And Fall span Runrig to the brand new single Somewhere, which was created together with Scottish singer/songwriter Julie Fowlis (the original English voice from the animated film Merida Highlands) produced by Disney Pixar. The Collector's Box contains three DVDs and six CDs, which are divided into the individual discs Archive Live, Archive Live & Demos, the BBC Radio Scotland Documentary, the Best Of Access All Areas and The Ones That Got Away Collection. The latter CD consists of a Best Of, compiled by the group himself. contains all the favorite songs of the band members and which are commented in detail in the attached booklet.
