Goodnight Suite #1 is a seamless collection of fourteen original (plus one adaptation of a Bach/Gounod piece) compositions written with bedtime in mind. Long, lazy intros and outtros buoyed by hypnotic ocean sounds form a musical raft suitable for sailing into deep relaxation and sound sleep. There are no abrupt volume changes and sound is continuous from start to finish. The instrumentation is appropriately organic with piano, harp, voice, light strings and music box sprinkles here and there. It is childlike while respecting the notion that children, even infants, are completely capable of absorbing music that has a tasteful amount of sophistication played on real instruments by real people.
