Witches! is this legendary Los Angeles dreampop band's 16th LP, coming less than one year after the critically-lauded The Gospel According to John album. Conceived of as a sort of dance record with minimal drums, frontman John Andrew Fredrick describes the songs "as though Syd Barrett had joined New Order." As The Independent UK has observed, the black watch melds "My Bloody Valentine miasma and Nick Drake quietness, showcasing beautiful, catchy melodies and poetic lyrics."
