Starting out as a big band vocalist was a great entrance to music for me and one I continue to do. Eventually I moved on to a smaller quartet setting and enjoy the freedom it gives me as a vocalist. Although my previous recordings are ballads, this is a step outside the box for me. My choices were based on what I thought people wanted to hear; the selections on this disc are songs I have always wanted to do. Working with such talented musicians makes the process experiential for me, and I feel the end product is the result of all our talents combined. It was such a special thrill for me to have Norman Johnson, who records for Pacific Coast Jazz, play guitar on three of the selections: Star Eyes, On Green Dolphin Street and So Many Stars. My solos alone with pianist Joe Mc Williams are always inspirational and an important part of my recordings. I am so fortunate to have the subtle backing of Charlie Weyant's tenor sax and the steady rhythms provided by Lou Bocciarelli on bass and Tom Palinko on drums . My hope is that the listener will enjoy hearing 'Cool' as much as we enjoyed the recording session.
