Robert Bittle has performed as a singer songwriter with numerous groups over his musical career stretching all the way back to his days with local pop favorites the x-teens. Sugareen is the product of a two year collaboration with producer and fellow x-teen Todd Jones. The music ranges from simple love songs, 'Remember', to the sad and disturbing 'Suicide Letter'. The album begins with the driving tour de force, 'End of the Road' which merges perfectly into the anti-war song 'From Young Man to Old'. 'Something New on the Radio' offers a musical nod to the Beatles, perhaps Bittle's greatest musical influence, as he recalls that morning in December when he first heard the news that John Lennon was dead. 'Cold Rain' is getting a lot of likes. It is a wistful folk song at heart that is transformed into a pop powerhouse in the capable hands of Jones' production. In all, this is an excellent CD and one every lover of pure pop music should own.
