Secondhand Socialites is a two piece band from south central South Dakota. We're comfortable with filthy practice rooms, smoking too many cigarettes, playing at deafening volumes, and putting our souls into every second of music that we create. We love rock and roll. It runs in our veins. Intimate shows and loud guitars are what we live for. We are completely 'do it yourself' in attitude. When it comes to recording, we draw heavily from bands like Nirvana, Ramones, and Green Day; constantly layering our music to escape the humdrum sound that so often defines d.i.y. albums. Our recording style crackles and pops with the warm energy of a band that bleeds, sweats, and cries rock and roll. Artistically, we draw inspiration from bands like the Pixies. We feature the best of many rock genres: indie rock, grunge, punk, hard rock, and many more. Although we are a through-and-through rock band, we have developed a sound diverse enough in range to satisfy almost any rock and roll fan. We can be soft and beautiful for a song like 'Across the Void,' only to throw out a fireball of energy in the form of a heavily punk or grunge influenced song like 'What's the Other Name' or 'Soul Sale.' We love to surprise ourselves, and consider nothing to be off-limits when it comes to our songwriting.
