This album came about as a result of Helene's writing over the past 3 years. The more she performs live, the more people ask where they can find her songs. Whether playing in Nashville at the Bluebird Café, other lesser-known venues, or writers' rounds in Tennessee and Texas, she is approached by people who are moved by her music and it's themes. You will often see audiences wiping tears, or hear them laugh out loud at her music, but they are always paying attention. These 6 songs capture a period of life where Helene reflects on her past, her influences, and her family. 'Restless Heart' is the only co-written song on this EP. She wrote it with her collaborator, Dakota Jay. She loves the way the song is full of heart imagery, and speaks to those including herself, who have had a heart broken. Dakota even lends his voice to sing harmonies on this recording! 'Talk To You' is an upbeat audio delight, celebrating the need for friendships and relationships where hearts and secrets can be shared in safety. It is for those special people in her life that helped her learn to tell her story and listen to theirs. 'Ghost of a Chance' will not tell you where it's going until the very end. Helene started this song in her car on a long road trip. When the word 'ghost' sneaked it's way into the chorus, she immediately knew what it needed to be about. Forgiveness. 'Pink' was written one Fall day when the word 'pink' literally woke her up. As the mother of 2 daughters, she had a lot of material to pull from. This song is a look back at how immediately those little girls grab our hearts, and then how quickly they grow up. Life is never the same once they arrive! This one has consistently been an audience favorite since the first time she performed it live. 'How a Mother Loves' is inspired, loosely, by Helene's own mom as well as Helene's experience being a mom, having daughters and being a daughter. Perfect for anyone with a mom, or who is a mom! This is another audience favorite. 'Christmas Boy' was born in the car on another long road trip to Nashville! As Helene began thinking about writing a new Christmas song, she wanted to keep the song simple. This became a lullaby, written as if she had been there at the manger scene with the baby Jesus, His young parents, the shepherds and the angels.
