Shade is a Rock / R&B/ Soul trio from San Francisco California. Uncle Ray (from !Tang, Zircus) plays guitar an sings. He's from New Jersey and is an AVID New York Jet fan. Dr. Smith plays bass and sings. He's from southern California and speaks German fluently. T-Loin play drums, harmonica, and sings. He's from the Detroit area and helped Godfather in the Mo-Cal sound Shade plays R&B fused with soul, rock, power-pop, and funk. Their live set slams with originals folks can dance to, but the band loves interpreting pop rock covers from a power trio perspective. Sometimes they add horns for punch, occasionally a couple of back up singers for swagger. They've been known to play cuts from Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, The Monkees, Elvis Costello, The Meters, The Rolling Stones, jimi Hendrix, and the Motown & Stax songbook.
