Das sechste Album der amerikanischen Rockband The Sword unfasst 13 Songs und wurde mit dem Produzenten Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Modest Mouse) in Portland, Oregon aufgenommen. Used Future ist Nachfolgewerk zum 2015er Album High Country, mit dem die Band das erste Mal Chartplatzierungen außerhalb der USA feiern konnte. Unter anderem in den deutschen Top 100-Charts. Mit Deadly Nightshade lassen The Sword auch gleich in einen ersten Song hören.

The Sword spielten sich bereits mit ihren ersten Alben Age Of Winters und Gods Of The Earth in die Herzen von Kritikern und Publikum. Nach Tourneen mit unter anderem Lamb Of God und Clutch folgte 2008 der Ritterschlag als The Sword von Metallica als deren Support-Band engagiert wurden. Es folgten die Alben Warp Riders und Apocryphon.
