Valery Gergiev Hayk Melikyan was born on November 29, 1980 in Yerevan. Laureate of many international piano competitions. He is widely known as one of the best performers of 20th century and contemporary music. The Armenian performing art gained a valuable development starting from 20-30s of the XX century. This period became an importante impulse for the advantage of different national professional musical geners. Different types of chamber music,such as miniatures, sonatas for different instruments, vocal and ensemblecompositions,started to appear along with opera, ballet, simphonic and chamber works. Varios cello works were also comosed during that time. Current CD presents Sonatas for cello and piano by four well-known Armenian contemporary composers, Harutiun Dellalian (1937-1990), with his unique and individual way of combining of traditional and contemporary thinking. Karen Khachaturian (1920-2011), with his world of of emotions, he express throught different layers of national modals and wide usage of poliphonic forms wich is very typical to his style. Tigran Mansurian (1939) who has always been in search for new and reached the unique musical language and thinking throught various experimental means and creative priciples. Avet Terterian (1929-1994), was one the brave innovators who integrated the XX century global musical tendencies and expression styles into the national music and his inimitable posotion in the national culture.
