PRODUKTBESCHREIBUNGEN
A Fork in the Road is the debut solo effort of "Tumbleweed Rob" Wolfskill, a veteran performer who is best known as the leader of one of the top acts in the Western Music genre called The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. Rob founded, produced and directed the group since it's inception in 2005 leading the group to win several awards including the Academy of Western Artists Western Music Group of the Year, the Western Music Association Crescendo Award for Most Promising Talent and the Western Music Association Best Traditional Album by a Group Award. Rob now embarks on a new journey as a solo-artist with his new project called Tumbleweed Rob & the Southwest Junction. A Fork in the Road features the members of Rob's new band, Tumbleweeds alumni, Dan Dungan on bass, Jesse Olema on fiddle plus new members Craig Ferguson on guitar and dobro and John Lambdin also on guitar. Born in Los Angeles, CA and a descendent of the Chiricahua Red Paint Apache people Rob has very strong ties to his heritage and a strong affection for the American Southwest. His songwriting style is both very personal and also very heavily influenced by the Acoustic Roots Music he has been drawn to throughout his life time. With A Fork in the Road, Rob sets his sights on his own life span of influences, from his Southwestern American roots to the music of his formative years exploring a more personal side of his artistic calling and giving the folks who have come to know him a closer look at who he is as an artist and as a person. "It's easy to hide behind characters as cartoony and big as The Tumbling Tumbleweeds. It's time to step out from behind the plaid and let people in a bit," Says Rob, "It's more interesting for me and hopefully it will be more interesting for my audience as well." A Fork in the Road is a multi-genre effort combining elements of Country, Americana, Roots, Western and Pop. The songs featured on A Fork in the Road include the title track, Fork in the Road, a song initially written by Rob for good friend and ex-bandmate, R.J. Mills upon his departure from The Tumbling Tumbleweeds and from California. The song has since become an interesting fore-shadowing of the disbandment of The Tumbling Tumbleweeds and Rob's farewell to that chapter in his life. Other songs written by Rob are When You Look At Me, a bouncy, "heart-breaky honky-tonk shuffle," Ida Lou/Ida Lee, a heart rendering cowboy waltz with a powerful story, Life in Kid World, a very contemporary ballad about the light and dark side of childhood and It Might As Well Be You, another contemporary acoustic pop song about mustering the courage to step out from the shadows and follow your calling. Other songs featured on the album are, Dixie Lily and Roy Rogers, both written by Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Rob's, western ballad version of Home Again by Carole King, Robert Castleman's The Lucky One and Joyce Woodson's, I Don't Want to be a Cowboy Anymore.
