With Beatlemania at it's height in 1965, Shea Stadium in Queens, New York was the site of the first stadium show ever by the Beatles, or any rock & roll band for that matter. The Beatles Shea performances made an impression on a young working-class musician from Long Island named Billy Joel. When the Mets built a new stadium and said goodbye to Shea in 2008, the local native turned superstar was the logical choice to give it a proper sendoff.
