RIVER is a poignant exploration of beauty and loss, blending personal resilience with artistry in the tradition of Joni Mitchell and Abbey Lincoln. Featuring five jazz-infused original songs and interpretations of Michel Legrand, Esbjörn Svensson, and Beady Belle, it unveals an unvarnished, honest sound enriched by warm acoustic guitars, poetic piano, and elegiac cello. With RIVER, singer, painter, and songwriter Nadia Maria releases an intimate and profoundly moving musical milestone. Created in close collaboration with her longtime friend and producer Céline Rudolph, the album was sensitively recorded at Riverside Studios in Cologne. Her songs speak of freedom, transience, and unwavering hope. The album's creation is intertwined with Nadia Maria’s diagnosis of early Alzheimer’s disease. Céline Rudolph assembled high class musicians and created a space where Nadia could found moments of rediscovery: “I simply sang – exactly as I am,” she says.
