Guo Gan is een internationaal zeer gerespecteerde virtuoos op de erhu (twee-snarige viool) en brengt op zijn nieuwste cd een eerbetoon aan een van de grondleggers van de hedendaagse Chinese muziek: Liu Tian Hua. Hij was een invloedrijke hervormer van de klassieke-muziektraditie die klassieke Europese muziek in zijn composities verwerkte. Erhu speelt tien stukken van Liu Tian Hua, op briljante en gevoelige wijze.
