'Howlin' At The Moon' is a concept album. The title track, written by Jim Ratts and John McEuen was a bluegrass hit for legendary picker Sam Bush and had the honor of being #79 in Bluegrass Unlimited's top 200 songs of the decade. All the songs celebrate the driving force that motivate artists and musicians. Bob Shane helped Jim write a retrospective of the Kingston Trio's career called 'Every Inch of the Way', and Jim's 'Ozark Night' about the Dillards was featured on their Grammy nominated 'Let It Fly' release. This project features elaborate production, top-notch singing and playing, and a drop-dead gorgeous package design (Jim's wife Salli, the girl in the group, designed Steve Martin's award winning album 'The Crow', with her partner Greg Carr). A book of poetry by Charles John Quarto, whose works have been used by Stephen Stills, Michael Martin Murphey, Waylon Jennings, Tony Rice, and Don Williams, is also included.
