The deep-roots country found in The Bo-Stevens' Tele twang and pedal steel swells harkens back to the days of Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, and Buck Owens. But the music included on their 4th album, 'Your Crazy Heart,' marks them at a musical crest, having honed their talents over the last decade in juke joints across the Southeast. While modern country music moves further away from tradition, The Bo-Stevens embraces it's old-school heritage and working-class ethos with classic themes of sin and heartbreak, revenge and repentance. Late greats like Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Charlie Poole, and Tommy Jarrell took what was personal and true, then added their spin to the tradition. With "Your Crazy Heart," The Bo-Stevens strive to both honor and develop roots music picked from the same Carolina vines that fed such legends. Having opened for acts like Dwight Yoakam, The Avett Brothers, Asleep at the Wheel, and Unknown Hinson, The Bo-Stevens are more likely to be found in the same honky tonk haunts that birthed the music.
