This recording project was created to promote and advocate the importance of performing contemporary chamber music. The Kentucky Center Governor's School for the Arts instrumental music artists-in-residence commissioned four of the five composers on this recording to compose a chamber music work for their unique instrumentation of clarinet, trumpet, viola, percussion and piano. Each work was premiered and recorded during consecutive summer GSA programs from 2007 through 2010. This recording will bring primarily new American chamber music to the public's attention from Kentucky, and will showcase the composers and the artists represented. It is hoped that the results of this project will have a profound impact upon the direction of American chamber music in the future.
