Breakup At Allen Park started as a concept album that would join several lyrical ideas together under one unifying topic: being lied to, led on, and taken advantage of. It is a crime against humanity and it happens to so many innocent people. I felt like I had to take a stand, even if it is just in the form of music. Anyway, I worked on this concept with a band during the summer of 2010. We came very close to releasing an album that summer, but in the end we decided that it was incomplete. I continued the concept on my own throughout the remainder of the year and even into 2011. I continued to believe that the album would work, so I kept writing and eventually started tracking. The tracking process took a long time due to time constraints, equipment failures, and all the things that usually hinder progress. It took several months just to get the drum tracks down, but once they were recorded I was free to finish the project on my own schedule. Although much of the concept remains intact, it isn't all about lies, lead ons, and deception. It is also about loss, depression, suicide, and fading memories. Don't worry though, it isn't all bad. Much of the album is actually quite funny if you have a disgustingly cynical sense of humor. Musically this album is all about vocal harmonies, piano goodness, and an almost vintage sound. Some of the arrangements sound straight out of the late 60s early 70s. But I assure you that you have not heard this before. The goal wasn't to recreate a sound that already exists. The goal was to create a sound that I like. It sounds selfish and it might be, but I'd rather write for my own enjoyment than to impress a bunch of people who don't really care. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. It's useless to force it. I sincerely hope you enjoy this album because I'm proud of this one. I've worked extremely hard for about seven years to become the singer and songwriter I am today and I hope it shows.
