NORRISH REACTION SELF-TITLED DEBUT CD Seattle-Inspired Contemporary Alternative Rock Norrish Reaction's debut CD brings together familiar retro rock elements and the contemporary feel and attitude of Seattle-inspired alternative music. The band delivers solid guitar-centric rock with big, driving drums, heavyweight bass and classic rock keys stitched into interesting arrangements with unique melodies and rich vocal harmonies. The all-original, 12 track Norrish Reaction CD opens with the hard hitting, upbeat alternative rock song, Thousand Roads, and ends with an acoustic reprise of the same. Fans of 1970's rock bands will especially love the song, Is This Your Dream, which offers esoteric, spacy guitar and a compelling story. The song, Let it Go, will inspire listeners to let go of the past, take chances, and live the moment. "All and all", explains drummer Bob Lupton, "the songs collectively capture many different stories and perspectives but with the unmistakable, definitive Norrish Reaction sound." Norrish Reaction has forged a unique sound among Seattle-inspired alternative rock bands. Winston Norrish did not set out with this specific sound in mind and no single artist or genre influenced his writing. "I'd begin with a simple idea - a rhythm, guitar lick, or maybe just a point of view, and start drawing on experience - both musical and life experience, and every single song surprised me when it was finished", says Norrish, "The music definitely took on a life of it's own. " The Norrish Reaction CD was produced and engineered by Geoff Ott at the historic London Bridge Studio in Seattle. Norrish explains, "Geoff Ott has worked with the best including Candlebox, Alice in Chains, Paul Rogers, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Queensryche, Melissa Etheridge to mention a few. Geoff Ott has the talent to bring out the best performances of musicians. His hands-on approach transforms great performances into great songs" explains Norrish. Lupton says, "Recording at London Bridge Studio in Studio A, the big drum room, was a real treat. This room has been the recording nexus of so many great bands and drummers. It was surreal to be there and to lay down tracks that have that Seattle big drum sound." Initial conversations with Geoff Ott, who is also co-owner of London Bridge Studio with Jonathan Plum, proved to be fruitful. The band felt confident early in the process that this was a place for having fun and for crafting professional, high quality Seattle-inspired music! The amazing Steve Turnidge of Ultraviolet Studios in Seattle put the final touch on the songs as the mastering engineer. Band members include Winston Norrish on vocals and guitar; Bob Lupton on drums and percussion; and Caspar van Haalen on bass. Guest Alexandra Lupton performs keyboards and percussion on a number of songs including drums on the Led Zeppelin style track March on Egypt. Guest keyboard artist Lenny Price also performed with the band. Lenny spent 12 years performing saxophone with legendary jazz musician Earl Klugh. He delivers impressive keyboards arrangements on four tracks, harking back to his early years as a piano player on the pop and rock scene back east. Lenny Price shares, "I have recorded over 60 albums in my career and the Norrish Reaction album is in the top three for excitement, creativity, and arrangements." Lenny introduces the listeners to the iconic Moog synthesizer sound on the rock ballad, Walked Away. "When I heard the early draft tracks for Walked Away, I knew this album was going to be great, and I knew that Walked Away called for the Moog." Lenny appeared courtesy of Midshipman Records.
