Anthems is a collection of songs created for the worshipper. It is written for the Church to embrace. In his debut album, Jarod pours out his heart into music and words, mostly from the perspective of a worshipper. Serving as a worship leader in the local church, Jarod desires to write songs from an authentic place in his heart. With songs such as "Send Us to the Nations" and "Jesus Save Us" the theme of complete surrender and brokenness is evident throughout the album. "I can't write songs unless it's something God is personally dealing with me about," Jarod says, "so when I write the lyric 'lead us to surrender, we will go' or 'Jesus save us, come be near us' these come from the cries of my heart." Still many of the songs are heart felt anthems of praise. "For Your Glory" comes from the perspective of a worshipper desiring the presence of the Lord more than anything else. As the dear pants for the water, so my soul thirsts for the Living God. "My eyes are fixed upon You, My soul is bursting from within. Holy Spirit come!" Songs such as "Power In Your Name," "Be Glorified" and "God Who Saves" are anthems of exaltation. The album is mixed in with some fresh arrangements on 'In Christ Alone' and the hymn 'All Hail the Power.' The spirit and passion behind the songs is authentic, displaying the intimacy of worship and the jubilation of praise. These songs are great for corporate worship. "Ultimately, I want to write songs that the Church can sing and glorify the name of Christ."
