The Cross Ties band of Poplarville, Mississippi grew from the music ministry of the local First United Methodist Church and can often be found playing there. The band has grown into a group that now plays a variety of venues such as churches, festivals, concerts and private parties in and around the southern Gulf states region. Depending on the setting, the group plays both gospel and secular selections. The group places an emphasis on giving fresh arrangements to old time favorites that are not often heard anymore. The group also boasts a talented song writer in Dan O'Connor, who is a part of the music ministry of Byrd's Chapel United Methodist Church. Close you eyes and listen as the band takes you on a journey back to yesteryear. Band members are: Bobby Thrash: guitar, banjo & vocals Dan O'Connor: guitar, banjo & vocals Jerry Philen: slide guitar & dobro Stan Cartee: mandolin & vocals Paul Kaufmann: ukelele, tenor banjo & vocals Bill Nix: guitar, harmonica & vocals Mike Patten: bass & vocals The CD 'Right On Track' was recorded 'live' in the sanctuary of Poplarville FUMC on November 12, 2011. Ryan Royals was the recording engineer for the session and also did the mixing at his studio: Rec Room Recording, Hattiesburg, MS. Larry Nix and Kevin Nix mastered the recording at L Nix Mastering, Memphis, TN. Cross Ties is proud to be a part of the Skeeter Hawk Records label.
