This collection of standards, contemporary, and world music is the latest from guitarist/singer Salvador Medrano and vocalist Kari Cariño. From love songs and ballads that range from the music of Central America and Italy to the spicy tropical sounds born on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro, Salvador and Kari take you away with their sweet melodic songs. Salvador Medrano (1933 - 2013) led a storied musical career. At the age of eight he performed for the President of Guatemala and was a student at the Juan José Arrevalo Bermejo Music Conservatory. He performed on national television several times and toured the world playing in venues both large and small. Salvador gave two White House performances in 1957. Early in his musical career in Guatemala, Salvador formed the musical trio 'Los Brujos' which performed throughout Central America in the 80's and played with such Latin greats as Daniel Santos, Armando Manzanero, and Lola Beltrán. Salvador and Kari Cariño met in 2004 and eventually became engaged and later married. Salvador passed away in 2013 but his music lives on. Kari Cariño comes from a musical family of Opera singers. She also excels at and is dedicated to visual arts. Kari holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts, art teaching certificate, and Masters of Art in Art Education. In 1986 she graduated School of The Art Institute of Chicago with the distinguished Lincoln Award, given to the top senior of the graduating class. In 1989 she was Visiting Lecturer of Art at The Experimental School of Tufts University. Drawn to many cultures and languages, Kari has taught herself several foreign languages and revels in interacting with peoples of all countries and all social standing. Kari fell in love with Salvador in 2004 and was with him till his dying breath in 2013. She shared a life with him of music, performance, travel and shared musician friends. Kari collaborated with photojournalist and videographer Paul Giguere to document Salvador's remarkable life.
