I Liverball negli anni '90 hanno scavato una nicchia facendo l'opposto della maggior parte delle band punk dell'epoca. Suonavano assoli di chitarra, avevano i capelli lunghi e un frontman nella vena di Jim Morrison/Iggy Pop. Facevano parte di una scena fiorente che ha portato Iron City Punk sul palcoscenico nazionale e internazionale da Pittsburgh. Band come Anti-Flag, i Cynics, Bad Genes, Submachine, Wormhole X, Steel Miners e molte altre grandi band della Pennsylvania occidentale. (il nome della band "Liverball" deriva dalla lettura errata di un cartello affisso lungo l'autostrada che diceva "Live Bait")
