MARILYN MONROE - SYN 057 - UPC - 874757005720 - B000JMK6W6 "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend" CD with "Home Town Story" DVD CD with bonus DVD Feature Film
Marilyn Monroe never actually recorded an album in her lifetime, but most of her movies featured her singing at least one song. And so it was inevitable that after her untimely death in August 1962 at age 36, someone would compile those songs and put them out on record. Monroe is the perfect Hollywood caricature of the sexy mama, every syllable she sings practically dripping with desire. Fellow pinup queen Jane Russell joins her on "When Love Goes Wrong," from 1953's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
The closing track on this disc is the notorious "Happy Birthday" that Monroe sang to President John F. Kennedy at Madison Square Garden for his 45th birthday party in May 1962.

Home Town Story - 1951 - Directed by Arthur Pierson -DVD
Blake Washburn blames manufacturer MacFarland for his defeat in the race for re-election to the state legislature. He takes over his uncle's newspaper to take on big business as an enemy of the people. Miss Martin (Marilyn Monroe) works in the "Herald" newspaper office. When tragedy strikes, Blake must re-examine his views. <

JUDY GARLAND - SYN 057 - UPC 874757005522 - B000JMK6V2 "Over the Rainbow" CD with "Till The Clouds Roll By" DVD CD with bonus DVD Feature Film
What you hear on this disc is early Judy, her voice big, sweet and a bit sentimental, long before it curdled into a self-parody. Other celebrities pop up frequently as duet partners including Bing Crosby Gene Kelly, and Fred Astaire.

Till the Clouds Roll By (1946) - Directed by Richard Whorf
Light bio-pic of American Broadway pioneer Jerome Kern, featuring renditions of the famous songs from his musical plays by contemporary stage artists, including a condensed production of his most famous: 'Showboat' . Also includes performances by June Allyson, Kathryn Grayson, Van Heflin, Lena Horne, Van Johson, Dinah Shore, Frank Sinatra, Cyd Charisse and others.

JANE RUSSELL - SYN 058 - UPC 874757005829 - B000JMK6VM "Pamper Me" CD with "The Outlaw" DVD CD with bonus DVD Feature Film
Jane Russell had a decent voice, and in her movie-star capacity, she sang a lot of tunes, including "Am I in Love?" and "Wing Ding Tonight" with Bob Hope and several selections from 1953's "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes".
It may come as news to a few folks that Russell, was a devout Christian, and that she actually formed a gospel vocal group in the '50s. Her1954 album, "Make a Joyful Noise Unto the Lord", and subsequent single, "Give Me That Old Time Religion" are the sources of the surprising devotional music you'll hear interspersed throughout this disc.

The Outlaw - 1943 - Directed by Howard Hughes
The Outlaw was filmed in 1940 and only released in 1943 after lengthy wrangling with the Hays censorship office over its provocative nature.
Newly appointed sheriff Pat Garrett is pleased when his old friend Doc Holliday arrives in Lincoln, New Mexico on the stage. Doc is trailing his stolen horse, and it is discovered in the possession of Billy the Kid. In a surprising turnaround, Billy and Doc become friends. This causes the friendship between Doc and Pat to cool. The odd relationship between Doc and Billy grows stranger when Doc hides Billy at his girl (played by Jane Russell), Rio's, place after Billy is shot. She falls for Billy, although he treats her very badly. Interaction between these four is played out against an Indian attack before a final showdown reduces the group's number.

MARLENE DIETRICH - SYN 056 - UPC 874757005621 - B000JMK6VC "Falling in Love Again" CD with "The Blue Angel" DVD CD with Bonus DVD Feature Film
First and foremost, Marlene Dietrich (1901-1992) was a movie star. But her casual singing style was nearly as important a factor in that stardom as her acting talent. Her 1930 breakthrough role in "The Blue Angel" was as a cabaret singer/femme fatale named Lola, and one of the numbers she sang in that movie, "Falling in Love Again," became a major hit, serving as Dietrich's unofficial theme song for the rest of her life.
The songs on this recording are the classic original recordingsthat helped make the one time Maria Magdalene Dietrich von Losch both a film legend and a cabaret sensation. -Mac Randall
The Blue Angel - 1930 - Directed by Josef von Sternberg
This is the story about the infatuation, drama and ultimate tragedy of Immanuel Rath, an old bachelor and a teacher at the town's high school. When he discovers that some of his pupils often go into a speakeasy, The Blue Angel, to visit a dancer, Lola (played by Dietrich) he comes there to confront them. But he becomes infatuated with Lola, revisits the next night . and his life changes dramatically.
