Born and raised in Hawaii, Harry attended the University of Hawaii were he studied classical guitar. After many years of playing rock and roll, he became interested in slack-key guitar and began studying with slack-key master, Raymond Kane. Harry continues to play slack-key in Raymond's style. He furthered his study of Hawaiian music by learning Hawaiian lap-steel guitar from Jerry Byrd.
