Steevan was formerly the lead singer with NJ studio-alternative/pop band, Joyseed, where he sharpened his songwriting skills, showing early on that he had a strong sense of melody and chord progression -without taking a single music class and only a few guitar lessons. Joyseed recorded more than 20 songs - most of which were Mars' originals.
