EDITORIAL REVIEWS
'Classic Beauties' draws on the rich mainstream tradition that generations of jazz lovers turn to for spiritual uplift, a good time, to gain musical knowledge and to hear stories 'the greats' have told through their instruments. 'It's been a reason to spend more time with some of my earliest music' says Barnes. The eight compositions are all Barnes originals. Tuneful and swinging, adventurous or comforting, cool and hard bop sounds with afew surprises! THE BAND: RICHARD UNDERHILL - alto sax (Canadian JUNO award winner, founder of Shuffle Demons). WILLIAM SPERANDEI - trumpet (must be heard) ROBI BOTOS - piano (winner of the 2007 National Jazz Award (Canada) for Pianist of the Year)(Killer) Kieran Overs - acoustic bass (masterful) Daniel Barnes - drums and compositions 'BARNES KNOWS HIS WAY WITH A TUNE'. AllAboutJazz.com '.HE STANDS WITH THE BEST OF HIS GENERATION'. Mark Miller, Globe and Mail Canada. BIOGRAPHY; Drummer, writer, singer and producer Daniel Barnes was born into an artistic family in 1965 in Toronto Canada. His father Milton's concert music is performed and recorded internationally. Daniel co-led The Daniel Barnes/David Restivo Quintet in the late 1980's to critical acclaim. In 2003 he released his self produced debut contemporary jazz CD "Culmination".
