Texas is the last place where the honky=tonk, the dancehall, the down-and-dirty biker infested beer-on-your-shoes by God roadhouse still lives and thrives. Everybody wonders how Texas and Oklahoma turn out all this original music. Most of the artists on COW started out making their own CD's to be sold one at a time at gigs like the River Road Icehouse in New Braunfels and Railroad Blues in Alpine and the Wormy Dog Saloon in Stillwater. And since it's still possible to play 200 paying gigs a year and never leave the state of Texas, they even had hit songs that were unknown north of the Red River - or at least north of Stillwater, another bustling oasis for original music. Texas has it's own record charts, radio stations and loyal fans who know all the workds to a song long before it's even pressed. to that end, every song on COW 3 is a bona-fide chart-toppin hit that reflects the flourishing music world of Texas and the Southwest.
