(Hagewitt) Shakira ist unberechenbar. Auf den Nachfolger zu ihrem international extrem erfolgreichen Album Laundry Service (2002) mussten ihre Fans fast drei Jahre lang warten. Dafür präsentiert sie nun nur sechs Monate nach ihrem spanischen Hitalbum Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 ein weiteres neues Album, diesmal komplett in englischer Sprache. Und bei den elf neuen Songs handelt es sich keineswegs um minderwertiges Material. Als Produzent fungiert auch diesmal wieder Rick Rubin (Johnny Cash, System Of A Down, Red Hot Chili Peppers), der ja bereits auf Fijacion Oral Vol. 1 eindeutig seine Handschrift hinterließ. Das Songmaterial von Oral Fixation Vol. 2 ist sogar noch deutlich stärker als beim Vorgängeralbum.

Shakira überzeugt gleich zu Begin mit einem der stärksten Titel ihrer bisherigen Karriere: "How Do You Do". Und damit legt sie die Meßlatte für sich selbst extrem hoch an. Doch auch mit den folgenden Songs, allen voran das melodisch besonders reizvolle und bereits als Single veröffentlichte Don't Bother sowie das mit Unterstützung von Carlos Santana eingespielte "Illegal", hält sie das hohe Qualitätslevel mühelos. Stilistisch ist Oral Fixation Vol. 2 sicher ihr bisher vielseitigstes Album. Und so finden sich darauf neben federleichten Pop-Songs wie "The Day And The Time" auch dancefloor-kompatible Nummern wie "Timor" eigenwillig beschwingte Rock-Songs wie "Hey You", die so garantiert niemand von Shakira erwartet hat. --Norbert Schiegl
